Hi! I’m Ana, a Spanish teacher from the beautiful and historical town Cartagena, in Spain.

I’ve taught in renowned institutions such as the University of Antwerp, the Thomas More University of Applied Sciences, and the University of Murcia. In addition to my teaching experience, I’m a certified DELE examiner for levels A1 to B2 by the Instituto Cervantes, helping students to prepare for and succeed in these important exams.

But if there’s something that I really want to share with you is that I’m a language student too.

Learning a language is not easy, I understand that firsthand. But it’s also so rewarding and soooo enjoyable (the language nerd in me is talking now). Spanish is my native language and, like many of you, I learned English at school, and uni, and I watched series and movies, etc. Then, when I was 24, my language journey took an unexpected turn—I moved to Belgium.

Suddenly, I found myself in a new country with a language I had never studied: Dutch. I had to learn it from scratch, and to be honest, it was a real struggle. Navigating daily life, making friends, and trying to fit in professional environments in a new language wasn’t easy. Every day was a challenge, but every day was also a step forward.

What made it even more challenging was that I had to juggle my three languages at once. At work, with friends, and in everyday situations, I had to switch between them constantly. It was exhausting at times, but it also gave me a unique insight into how languages work in real life and how culture shapes them.

I share this with you because I want you to know that I understand the frustration, the moments of self-doubt, and especially the small (but huge) victories that come with learning a new language.

Learning a language is not just about grammar and vocabulary. It’s about finding your voice, opening a door to new worlds, and remembering your progress when you feel stuck. And I’m here to help you on that journey.

If I could do it with Dutch I know you can do it with Spanish. Let’s get started!
